BBC Studios has taken full ownership of Killing Eve and The Durrells producer Sid Gentle Films.

The BBC’s commercial arm has owned a 51% stake in Sally Woodward Gentle’s scripted indie since 2018.

Other drama indies fully-owned by BBC Studios include Firebird Pictures, which it took control of earlier this month; Clerkenwell Films; Lookout Point; and House Productions.

In his keynote address to Mipcom in Cannes, BBCS chief executive Tom Fussell hailed the success of BBC America’s Killing Eve, which ran for four series, and declared: “The future slate is just as exciting.”

Founded in 2013, Sid Gentle’s upcoming projects include BBC/HBO co-pro Rain Dogs and Disney+ series Extraordinary.

It recently opened a Bristol offshoot, Sid Wild, run by Rain Dogs producer Ciara McIlvenny.

Meanwhile, BBC Studios scripted head Mark Linsey is to move to Los Angeles to form closer relationships with US producers and strike more scripted co-productions and international commissions.
