The executive producer of The Apprentice has stepped up to head of entertainment at the show’s producer Naked.

Paul Broadbent has become the first dedicated entertainment head at the Fremantle company and signals a deeper push into the genre for the indie.

Broadbent will continue to exec The Apprentice, which he has now overseen for four series, as well as developing new shows and formats.

Prior to Naked, he has worked on shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, The Only Way Is Essex and Mary Berry Saves Christmas and was series editor on series one to three of Gogglebox.

Naked managing director Fatima Salaria said Broadbent was promoted after taking The Apprentice “from strength to strength”, with this year's 16th series of  the Alan Sugar-fronted fact-ent format averaging more than 7m viewers and becoming BBC1’s biggest show of 2022 for young adults.

The indie now has the following division heads:

Entertainment Paul Broadbent
Fact-ent James Lessell
Formats Cam de la Huerta
Production Karen Knowles
