Former Channel 4 head of features Gill Wilson, who co-founded Betty and recently worked for Avalon, has joined indie Plum Pictures as head of factual.

Wilson praised the “quality and wit” of Plum’s productions, which include James May’s Amazon Prime series Our Man In… and Oh Cook! and Channel 4 series Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping and George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.

She oversaw Clarke’s series during her eight-year stint at C4 and also commissioned the presenter’s Old House New House as well as hit series Escape to the Chateau and The Supervet.

Since 2020, Wilson has been creative director of factual at Avalon, where she executive produced Channel 4’s Extraordinary Extensions with Tinie Tempah and How to Save a Grand in 24 Hours.

In a statement, Plum co-founders Will Daws and Stuart Cabb said Wilson is a “creative genius” whose “energy and genuine enthusiasm for television is a joy to behold”.

The London-based indie also produces Millionaire Holiday Home Swap for Paramount+ and C4 digital format Swiped.
