Viacom International Studios UK head of factual and features Oliver Wright has left to set up his own label with Objective Media Group.

Wright’s launch of the as-yet unnamed label follows Paramount Global’s reported decision to close the unscripted arm of VIS UK to pivot to high-end scripted content.

His label will develop and produce factual series and singles and will sit alongside established OMG brands including Betty, Objective Fiction and OMG Scotland.

Wright was at VIS UK for five years and is an executive producer on its upcoming Channel 5 series Tim Peake: Secrets of Our Universe.

Shows he steered during his time at the in-house producer included The Secrets of Royal Palaces, Nick Knowles Into The Grand Canyon, Diana: In Her Own Words and The Wonderful World of Chocolate.

He has previously head of popular factual at Arrow Media and has been an executive producer for Endemol Shine.

OMG chief exec Layla Smith described Wright as “a prolific producer with unique talent relationships [and] infectious energy”.
