Middlechild TV has promoted Gursharan Singh Nijar, a producer who has worked on a string of blue-light shows for various indies, to head of factual.
Nijar, who joined the indie 11 months ago, will be tasked with delivering premium returning ob-doc series for the indie, both from its Brighton head office and its Newcastle offshoot Northern Child.
He recently produced recently-recommissioned Channel 5 series Coastguard: Every Second Counts, building on previous stints as producer-director of Blast! Films’ Forensics: The Real CSI for BBC2, a senior gallery producer on The Garden’s C4 returner 24 Hours in A&E and Dragonfly’s Ambulance for BBC1.

His other credits include The Great Pottery Throwdown (Love Productions for C4), Gardeners’ World (BBC Studios for BBC2) and True North double Devon and Cornwall (More 4) and The Cotswolds with Pam Ayres (C5).
Middlechild managing director David Sumnall said he was instantly impressed by Nijar’s “ideas and ambition”, adding: “I knew we’d found someone who can take us to the next level. He’s got the perfect mix of being a great filmmaker and storyteller, as well as a team leader that everyone likes and respects.”
