Raw has hired the Netflix commissioner behind some of its biggest true-crime hits for the streamer as its creative director.
Jonny Taylor worked with the indie on shows such as Don’t F**k With Cats: Hunting An Internet Killer, The Tinder Swindler, The Puppet Master: Hunting The Ultimate Conman, The Ripper and Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi.
He joins Raw next month after five years as the streamer’s director of original documentaries, where he also worked with 72 Films on Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story and Goode Productions on lockdown hit Tiger King.
Taylor’s new role marks a return to the indie sector; he was previously an exec producer at Rogan Productions and a producer/ director at Films of Record.
“I’m lucky enough to be leaving one of the best teams in the world to join another at Raw,” Taylor said. “From The Imposter to The Tinder Swindler, Raw has produced an array of truly genre-defining films and series.”
Raw chief executive Joely Fether described Taylor as ”a strategic thinker attuned to audiences’ needs, a brilliantly creative programme maker and to top it all, a very lovely human being to work alongside our fantastic senior team”.
