Dreaming Whilst Black
The indies behind BBC3’s Dreaming Whilst Black and Dave’s Meet the Richardsons are among ten diverse companies picked by ITV to pair with genre commissioners.
Big Deal Films and King of Sunshine, respectively, are both taking part in the broadcaster’s development pilot Amplify: the Companies, which is offered to production companies led or owned by people of colour, deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent talent.
Big Deal, which is a multi-genre indie, will be paired with ITV reality commissioners Amanda Stavri and Pete Tierney, while King of Sunshine will work with entertainment commissioner Joe Mace.
Each of the ten will receive £5,000 to develop potential shows to pitch to their commissioner, with ITV having first refusal on their ideas.
The scheme is overseen by the broadcaster’s creative diversity partner Nahrein Kemp and is supported by its Diversity Commissioning Fund.
The ten partnerships comprise:
Acme TV and Brazen Productions: head of drama Polly Hill
Bolla Media and King of Sunshine Productions: entertainment commissioning editor Joe Mace
Renaissance Studios: entertainment commissioner Natalie Rose
Postcard Productions: factual entertainment commissioning editor and head of development Kate Teckman
Acclaimed Content, Big Deal Films and Proper Content: reality commissioning editors Amanda Stavri and Pete Tierney
Bakers Dozen Studios: current affairs controller Tom Giles
