STV Studios is looking to expand its game show slate with the hire of the co-creators of ITV’s Beat the Chasers and BBC1’s Picture Slam.
Andy Sockanathan takes on the newly-created role of director of development at STV Studios Entertainment after two years as head of development at RDF.
Previously head of entertainment at RDF label Fizz – which makes Tippingn Point - he formerly led quiz and game show development at ITV Studios label Potato, where he co-created Beat the Chasers.
Joining him as development executive James Smales, who also moves from a development role at RDF.
Smales has previously worked for Bandicoot, Hungry Bear and Triple Brew Media. For the last of these, he co-created Picture Slam and developed ITV’s revival of game show Lingo.
STV Studios Entertainment’s game shows include ITV staple Catchphrase and BBC1’s Bridge of Lies, which became BBC1's biggest daytime show launch of 2022 and has now aired in 16 countries. A third series, and a second of its celebrity spin-off, will air this year.
