Former Channel 4 head of entertainment Phil Harris has unveiled his new entertainment indie and has hired the exec behind BBC3's I Kissed a Boy as its creative director.

Boldprint Studios will specialise in “bold, scalable and global” reality, entertainment and factual entertainment formats. Fremantle UK has a minority stake.

Harris stood down from C4 in late 2023 after four years in the role, having delivered shows such as Late Night Lycett, Tempting Fortune and Tempting Fortune.

His first signing is creative director Lou Hutchinson, who previously headed up entertainment at Twofour, where she exec-ed I Kissed a Boy as well as ITV2’s Loaded in Paradise and Channel 4’s Make Me Prime Minister.

Both execs have previously worked for Fremantle UK label Thames: Harris as creative director and Hutchinson as an executive producer on shows including The Greatest Dancer and I Can See Your Voice.

Harris described Hutchison as “an entertainment and reality powerhouse; an exceptional creative leader who’s consistently delivered huge scale formats at the highest level”.

Hutchinson added: “Phil and I share two decades of friendship that’s spanned reality galleries, complex location shoots, ambitious live shows and everything in between. I’m so excited to build a brilliant team and slate of ideas together.”
