Otto Baxter: Not a F***ing Horror Story: Sky Documentaries' single centred on a director with Downs Syndrome
Sky is to mentor and financially support three diverse unscripted indies to develop factual ideas with a potential to commission them for Sky Documentaries.
The broadcaster has opened applications for a scheme that will offer three successful candidates at least £15,000 to develop their ideas over a six-month collaboration that will include monthly pitch sessions with a factual commissioner.
It was tailor each package to include time with experienced freelance executive producer of development executive or to financial support to cover producers, writers or editors to make taster tapes.
As well as potential fully-funded developments and short-term commissions, the Diverse Indies Development Initiative aims to guide development teams to create narrative-driven pitches for potential future collaborations with Sky or other broadcasters.
To qualify, indies must have a founder, owner or senior management creative – such as creative director or managing director - who are members of ethnic minorities, deaf, disabled, and/or neurodivergent.
