Dare Pictures has signed former Honey Bee Media and Uplands TV exec Dee Hendry as managing director to steer the business following US company Asylum’s investment in the indie.

Hendry co-founded Shipwreck Treasure Hunter with Ross Kemp indie Honey Bee in 2019 and was its chief operating officer until she stood down last year.

In her previous role as head of production and operations at Uplands, she executive produced both BBC2’s The Unwanted: The Secret Windrush Files and Channel 4’s The Unremembered: Britain’s Forgotten Heroes.

She was also one of the TV Collective's Breakthrough Leaders in 2022.

Hendry will now work with Dare founder Derren Lawford to manage business development, sales strategy and IP development in the UK and internationally.

Lawford said: “We’re lucky to have someone of Dee’s considerable expertise and acumen to help lay the foundations and create a robust infrastructure for us to execute and deliver on Dare’s mission.”

Chair Michelle Morgan meanwhile has become executive chair, with a more active role in Dare’s business strategy and development.
