Former Amazon, BBC and ITV diversity and inclusion exec Miranda Wayland has been named chief executive of the Creative Diversity Network.
Wayland joins the CDN next month, four months after the exit of previous chief Deborah Williams, who led the organization for seven years.
The role encompasses activities including the industry-wide Diamond diversity data reports, implementing the next iteration of the CDN’s diversity monitoring and reporting tool, annual reports and collaborative projects with broadcasters.
Wayland recently spent two years as Amazon MGM Studios’ diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility UK-based lead, standing down this spring following a restructure at the company.
She was previously the BBC’s head of workforce and creative diversity and prior to that, was a diversity manager and social partnership executive at ITV.
Wayland said of the role: “CDN plays an important role in addressing the inequities within the creative industry whilst bringing the sector together to achieve long term sustainable change.
“I have a deep respect for CDN’s vision and all the hard work that has taken place to drive real impact. I look forward to working with the team, the Board and industry partners to continue its success.”
CDN board chair Paul Moore hailed Wayland’s “passion and energy”, adding: “She has a wealth of experience and knowledge at a senior level at broadcasters and streaming platforms, building partnerships across the private, public and governmental sector to successfully remove barriers and create opportunities to improve representation in the TV industry.”
