Factual indie Brown Bob Productions has been placed into voluntary liquidation weeks after closing its Welsh office.
Jacqueline Hewer and Nikki Gottlieb, who founded the company in 2013 said in a statement that “the double-whammy of Covid and the commissioning slowdown were just too much for us to withstand as a small company and true indie”.
The company, which employed five staff, has appointed insolvency company AABRS Limited as liquidtors.
In its 11 years in business, Brown Bob has produced returning shows including UKTV’s Inside the Ambulance and Secrets of the London Underground.
The final series of the company’s BBC daytime trio Big Little Crimes, Fraud Squad and Moment of Proof are due to air next year.
Last month, it called time on its Welsh office after a year. The offshoot was initially responsible for Big Little Crimes and BBC1 recently aired its Our Lives documentary The Dinohunters.
Hewer and Gottlieb told Broadcast: “We are immensely proud of what we achieved with Brown Bob, creating a slate of long-running series that audiences came back to time and time again.
“We’ve worked with some brilliant people over the years and want to thank everyone who’s joined us on the amazing rollercoaster ride since we first started Brown Bob from our kitchen tables.”
