Spark Media Partners is closing Chateau DIY label Kindling after six years as production of the Channel 4 daytime show moves to Sheffield.
Sister company Spark Media North will oversee production of an eighth and ninth series of the show, which has been expanded from 30 to 45 minutes, plus two five-part Christmas specials for 2024 and 2025.
No roles are expected to go at Richmond-based subsidiary Kindling.
Spark Media chief creative officer Joff Hatfield-Powell, who has executive produced Chateau DIY since its launch and created the format’s spin-offs.
He relocated to Sheffield in 2020 to set up BBC small indie fund-backed Spark Media North, which also makes C4’s Tool Club.
Hatfield-Powell worked with C4 nations and regions Jo Street and senior commissioning editor for lifestyle, Jayne Stanger to relocate the format.
