Minnow Films has made a brace of hires to bolster its documentary, factual formats and popular factual slate.

The SAS: Who Dares Wins indie recently appointed a head of documentary development. Gail Tolley was previously a development executive at Blast! Films and has previously worked for Raw as a development producer.

Meanwhile, Dave Sutton has taken on the role of executive producer for constructed factual, working on upcoming Channel 4 series Go Back to Where You Come From [main picture].

Sutton has spent the past two years as a freelance producer and previously worked for Shine TV and TwentyTwenty on adventure formats including three C4 shows: Hunted and The Island with Bear Grylls (Shine) and Into the Jungle with Ed Stafford (Twenty Twenty).

He reports to head of constructed factual Liam Humphreys described Sutton as “a master builder of big, original, visually arresting shows” who “has a brilliant instinct for what makes purposeful, entertaining television”.

Internally, Minnow has promoted development executive Alex Burke to head of constructed factual development.

Prior to joining the indie in 2003, she was head of development for Label 1 and has also worked for Blast!, Twofour and Studio Lambert.

Minnow chief executive Morgan Matthews signalled that the trio of appointments paved the way for “the next wave of ambitious and adventurous Minnow productions”.
