Tiger Aspect is return to its scripted comedy roots, with managing director Lucy Bedford exiting to launch a drama label.
Beford said she will “untether from corporate obligations” to flex her creative muscles at her as-yet unnamed boutique start-up, which will produce shows in association with Tiger owner Banijay UK.
Meanwhile, Tiger Aspect drama creative director Gabriel Silver will develop his own slate as an executive producer, on projects that could be made with other Banijay UK scripted labels.
Tiger Aspect has co-produced dramas such as Peaky Blinders, Domina and Three Little Birds.
Though it has several drama projects close to green light, the moves leave Tiger Aspect “focused squarely on its scripted comedy roots,” said Banijay UK chief executive Polly Holland.
Under comedy creative director Tom Jordan, the indie will develop new and returning comedy to join and succeed a slate that includes Man Like Mobeen [main picture] and Bad Education.
“Writers, commissioners and wider stakeholders will continue to work with the team going forward and Tiger remains focused on its broad slate,” Holland told staff.
