British films Conclave, Kneecap and Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl were among the winners of this year’s BAFTA film awards.
Access Entertainment's Film4-backed movie Conclave converted four of its 12 nominations into wins, including best picture and outstanding British film, matched by four for The Brutalist, including best actor and best director.
Meanwhile, Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt took home the award for outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer.
The two awards migrated from the formerly separate children’s Baftas – best animated film and best children’s & family film – both went to Aardman’s BBC/Netflix film Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
The best documentary winner was Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, a co-production between British indies Jenco Films, Passion Pictures, Misfits Entertainment and New York-based Words + Pictures with HBO Films, DC Films and CNN Films.
Best British short film went to Rock, Paper, Scissors, directed by Franz Bohm, while Nina Gantz’s Wander to Wonder was named best British short animated film.
Despite 11 nominations, Emelia Perez took home just two awards - best film not in the English language, and best supporting actress - following controversy over comments made by its lead Karla Sofia Gascon.
