Oscar-winning documentary exec Nicole Stott has relocated to London to head unscripted at Magna Studios, the company behind Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger.

Scott joins as executive producer of Magna’s non-fiction team to build on an expanding slate that includes the Disney+ Oasis doc plus Sky’s The Pembrokeshire Murders and a Nat Geo feature from Man on Wire director James Marsh about mountaineer Aron Ralston.

Scott was previously head of documentaries at A24, where she oversaw commissions including HBO series The Yogurt Shop Murders and Monsters of God.

Prior to that, she steered Hulu feature Summer of Soul to Oscar, Bafta and Grammy success as founding member and co-head of non-fiction at Concordia Studio, which also made Apple TV’s Still: a Michael J. Fox Movie.

She now returns to the UK, where she previously spent 15 years as head of documentary at Passion Pictures during the company’s purple patch that included Oscar and Bafta-winner Searching for Sugar Man, Bafta winner The Imposter and Marsh’s Sundance-winning doc feature Project Nim.

Stott said: “Coming back to London after working for two very different studios in LA, I wanted to be somewhere with global ambition and the agility to work in new ways.

“Non-fiction is at a genuinely pivotal moment, and Magna stands out as one of the few truly future-focused companies. It has an entrepreneurial spirit to take creative risks, alongside the operational infrastructure to deliver at scale.”
