The Grierson Trust 2017 DocLab training scheme is now open for applications and is a great way for aspiring documentary film makers between the ages of 18-25 to get their foot in the door.
The program takes 12 aspiring filmmakers and gives numerous opportunities to kick-start their career from teaching skills such as pitching a concept and basic camera skills to offering financial support for trainees, paid work placements and a dynamic programme of workshops, masterclasses and mentoring. This is a wonderful opportunity that supports a number of roles behind the camera.
A number of production companies have committed their assistance to the programme, including Century Films, Dragonfly, Lightbox, Renegade Pictures, Pulse, Testimony Films, True North, True Vision and Wall to Wall, with additional support provided by Blueberry Media Consultants.
Lorraine Heggessey, Chairman of The Grierson Trust says: "With support from across the documentary industry, the Grierson DocLab is one of the best ways for doc-passionate young people to enter the industry. DocLab alumni are now working for the nation's biggest broadcasters and producers as well as developing their own films, projects and ideas with on-going support from their mentors and The Grierson Trust."
