CLOSR (Closer to Home) is a new programme is in response to Raising Films’ Making it Possible Survey, which identified two main factors that prevented parents and carers looking to attend networking and career development sessions; a lack of time and the cost of child care.
Raising Films are launching a personal and network development preliminary scheme for writers, directors and producers that will be delivered online and at family-friendly times. They are doing this with the support of Creative England and it will be for individuals based in the English regions outside greater London.
The scheme offers 36 participants 12 weekly online group and 1-2-1 sessions, plus an overnight event in June (with childcare provided) where there will be opportunity to meet peers, the programme coaches and a range of industry experts. Participants will then have 10 further weeks to develop their network and their projects independently, working towards a short review with the CLOSR team.
The aims of the programme are to clarify individual career objectives; expand regional networks/collaborators; and develop projects with peer and expert feedback.
The programme will be running from the 1st May until October 2017. The deadline for applications is Friday 21st April 2017 (5:00PM). To participate you will also need to have internet connection, hardware and software to participate in online sessions.
If you are successful you will be asked to contribute £100 towards the cost of the programme. Directors UK, Pact and WGGB will be offering hardship grands for candidates who are unable to afford the contribution.
