Gobstopper TV, the Manchester-based indie behind MTV’s Just Tattoo of Us, has launched a spin-off comedy focusing on features and formats.

The label, Flying Saucer TV, has secured its first commission from Channel 5. Cats and Dogs at War is a 4 x 60-minute series in which feline and canine behaviour experts visit homes in a bid to establish harmony between pets of each species.

Channel 5 commissioner Kit Morey has also ordered another series of the indie’s show Filthy House SOS, which now becomes a Flying Saucer show.

Gobstopper will continue to develop reality and entertainment shows in the mould of its hit tattoo format and its first US commission, MTV’s Revenge
Prank.

The creation of the sister company follows Gobstopper’s buyout from investor Greenbird and parent company Keshet earlier this year, which repositioned it as a fully independent business.

Flying Saucer TV is looking to establish a dedicated creative team to join Gobstopper creative director and chief executive Ross McCarthy and managing director Sarah Buckenham.
