Quicksilver Media has lost its contract to make Channel 4 current affairs strand Unreported World after 15 years, with C4 News picking up the reins.

The move ends Quicksilver founder Eamonn Mathews’ involvement with the strand, which he developed in 2000 with his Mentorn colleague George Carey, prior to setting up his company in 2006.

Matthews has executive produced 38 series of the strand in all and Oxford-based Quicksilver will continue to work on Dispatches and other projects for the broadcaster.

Undercover World will now be overseen by C4 News deputy editor Nevine Mabro, with a Glasgow-based series editor to be appointed in due course.

The ITN-owned news provider is expected to develop films with its international reporters and production staff, drawing on and expanding stories from its news bulletins.
