It’s a Sin creator Russell T Davies is to host the first in a series of masterclasses in an industry scheme aiming to broaden the TV talent pool.
The National Film & Television School and the British Film Institute have come together to launch the Early Stage Access and Diversity Accelerator Programme, an initiative to improve access to industry training,
Screenwriter Davies, whose credits also include Doctor Who, Queer as Folk and Years and Years, will host the first in the public-series Backstories strand, in which leading TV figures will talk to NFTS alumni.
The NFTS is also increasing the national reach of its entry-level courses and enhancing its online training and development offering.
The programme will also include training support for film executives and producers, plus bursaries and scholarships for under-represented groups to undertake the NFTS’ MA and diploma courses.
