Secret Spenders indie South Shore is gearing up to boost its Welsh production with the appointment of a head of its Cardiff office.
Former Dragonfly West head Simon Kerfoot joins the ITV Studios-backed indie, where he will work alongside chief operating officer Anthony Hughes to build on its existing Welsh slate.
Kerfoot said he aspired to establish South Shore Wales as a “significant and dynamic regional hub making top quality programmes that will nurture and attract the best local talent.”
Shows produced out of Cardiff include BBC2’s Hairy Bikers Go North and Channel 4’s Secret Spenders and upcoming BBC1 doc Freddie’s First Eleven. Kerfoot previously worked with the Hairy Bikers on BBC2’s Best of British and UKTV’s Mississippi Adventure series.
Kerfoot joined Dragonfly in 2014, working on shows including BBC1’s Life and Birth and BBC2’s Surgeons: At the Edge of Life. He became head of its Cardiff office in 2019 before his departure in 2020.
Since then, he has freelanced on shows including Channel 5’s Motorhoming with Merton & Webster, produced by Curve Media and Motion Content Group.
Established by Andrew Mackenzie and Mel Loach in 2019, South Shore’s portfolio includes BBC1 doc Freddie Flintoff: Living with Bulimia, ITV’s Don’t Rock the Boat and Channel 4 football academy ob doc series The Academy.
