Cardiff Productions co-founder Narinder Minhas is to become chief executive as Patrick Younge steps aside from the day-to-day leadership of the Welsh indie.
Younge, who formed Cardiff with Minhas in 2020 and was joint MD, is to become a non-executive director, focused on company strategy.
The move also affords Younge the opportunity to concentrate on his external roles, which include a non-executive director position at ITV Studios and chair of the British Broadcasting Challenge campaign focused on ways of protecting the survival of public service broadcasting.
The restructure reflects Minhas’ increasing role as the primary creative force at Cardiff, which is behind BBC2’s new series Tan France: Beauty and the Bleach and recent show We Are Black and British, and is also co-producer of Channel 4 topical discussion show Unapologetic.
Its production slate includes another C4 show, Britain’s Beautiful Rivers with Richard Hammond, and BET UK commission Moments That Shaped Queer Black Britain.
Younge hailed Cardiff’s “provocative and innovative programming”, while Minhas said the recalibration of the leadership roles was “a natural progression” that had been in progress for some time.
The senior team also includes chief operating officer Gwendie Carnie, production manager Catrin Medi, head of finance Jo Wynne-Williams and recently-appointed executive producer Becky Nunn.
Cardiff is part of C4’s Indie Accelerator scheme and is also supported by the BBC’s Small Indie Fund.
