ITV has appointed the talent head of Lifted Entertainment to oversee duty of care for participants on its shows.
As production adviser, Cheryl Woodcock will report to ITV head of compliance Claire Posner and will be the main point of contact for producers, commissioners and indies on duty of care requirements on shows
Her remit will include supporting both producers and commissioners to adopt best practices for protecting participants, as well as working closely with compliance, risk, health and safety and business affairs teams.
Woodcock founded the Telly Mums Network and is also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Therapy.
She spent a decade at ITV Studios-owned Lifted, where she found talent for series including The Big Breakfast, Saturday Night Takeaway, Dancing on Ice, Love Island and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!.
As a freelance producer, she has also worked on shows such as Total Wipeout and Million Pound Drop.
Duty of care has been a hot topic on ITV shows such as Love Island and The Jeremy Kyle Show and the broadcast revised its guidelines in 2019 and is now inclusion training to Love Island participants.
