Channel 4 comedy commissioner Jack Bayles is to join Various Artists Limited, the scripted indie set up by the creators of Peep Show.

Bayles has been at C4 for five years, commissioning the likes of Stath Lets Flats, Derry Girls, This Way Up and Hullraisers and previously produced Catastrophe for the broadcaster.

Set up by writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong with former C4 comedy chief Phil Clarke, VAL is based in London and Brighton.

Its output includes BBC1’s I May Destroy You, E4’s Dead Pixels and Sky’s Sally4Ever, with BBC3/HBO Max’s Juice in production alongside BBC pilot Henpocalypse and C4 pilot High End Homeless.

Bayles joins in August, reporting to Clarke, and will develop and oversee VAL’s comedy slate.
