RDF is looking to “re-energise” its quiz and game show offerings with the signing of the talent behind ITV’s Beat the Chasers and Channel 4’s The Answer Trap.
New head of development Andy Sockanathan joins the Banijay label from ITV Studios label Potato, where he spent three years as a development executive, co-creating The Chase spin-off and daytime show Winning Combination.
At RDF, he takes over from Kate Stannard, who left earlier this year to join Bandicoot.
Sockanatha will work alongside senior development producer James Smales, who has worked for Bandicoot, Hungry Bear, OMG Scotland and Triple Brew Media. As well as co-creating The Answer Trap, he has been a development producer on The Masked Singer, Lingo and The Million Pound Cube.
Rachel Arnold said the hires will bring fresh ideas to the table at RDF, home of BBC2’s Only Connct and ITV’s Tipping Point.
Arnold said: “Andy and James join RDF at an exciting time as we look to re-energise and expand our quiz and game show offering. They both have amazing creative minds, and their combined experience working on some of the biggest shows around will generate some brilliant ideas.”
