Freelance drama producer Simon Maloney, who has worked on some of BBC1’s biggest dramas of the past two years, has joined The Split producer Sister.

Maloney has become an executive producer at Northern Sister, the Manchester arm of the scripted indie, which was set up last year under creative director of scripted Lucy Dyke.

Maloney’s first show for Northern Sister will be Passenger, an ITV thriller currently in pre-production and due to shoot later this year.

Maloney’s recent credits as producer include Everything I Know About Love, Time and I May Destroy You. He also produced series three of Peaky Blinders and Sky dramas Intergalactic and Curfew.

He started out as a first assistant director on shows ranging from Hollyoaks and Grange Hill to Channel 4’s No Offence, BBC2’s The Honourable Woman and Marvellous and BBC1’s Luther.
