Channel 4 has signed the executive producer of Wall to Wall's Back In Time For… as a history commissioner.
As well as core history series commissions, Emily Shields will oversee specialist factual, singles, events and formats from C4’s Bristol regional hub and will report to head of specialist factual Shaminder Nahal.
She joins from Wall to Wall West, having set up the Bristol offshoot of the Warner Bros-owned indie in 2017.
As well as working on eight series of BBC2's history format Back in Time For, Shields has exec produced David Baddiel’s BBC2 docs Social Media, Anger and Us and Confronting Holocaust Denial, and worked with David Harewood on BBC1’s Why Is Covid Killing People of Colour and with Dr Yasmin Khan on BBC2’s Passage to Britain.
Her previous history credits include BBC1's Who Do You Think You Are?, also for Wall to Wall, and Century Films/Halcyons Heart BBC2 co-pro Secret History of Our Streets.
