BBC Studios has committed to introduce its anti-bullying initiative The Pledge on all of its productions a year after piloting the scheme on key shows.
The Pledge makes senior production leaders accountable for all on- and off-screen behaviour from the outset of a production, and to leave no ambiguity of its expectations from all staff.
BBC Studios is making its anti-bullying initiative compulsory on all its productions after a successful pilot, ensuring that everyone is informed of which individuals are responsible for managing behavioural issues and concerns.
The Pledge will be included on call sheets, which detail services such as the Bullying and Harassment Helpline and the Film and TV Charity’s freelancer helpline.
BBC Studios shows that have piloted the scheme since August 2021 include the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, A Question of Sport, EastEnders, Top Gear and Silent Witness, plus Amazon Prime/BBC co-pro Good Omens and Apple TV+ comedy Trying.
The BBC’s commercial arm is considering extending The Pledge to BBC Studios’ in-house indies in due course.
