Course Content

• Managing and retaining Disabled Talent is for anyone involved in hiring or managing production staff and talent in the screen industries.

• The session explores barriers that may exist that potentially impact on career mobility and how to create inclusive environments that facilitate career progression for disabled people.

• By the end of the session, you will be able to identify barriers that may exist that make it it harder for disabled people to progress in their careers and understand how to remove these barriers to create an inclusive environment.

• This session is 2h with one 10-minute break.
• The session is delivered online-live using Zoom.
• This session encourages active participation using activities on Figjam, discussion and breakout rooms.

• CDN training sessions are small interactive workshops of up to 15 people to facilitate deeper learning. Each session will have an introduction, breakout discussion rooms, interactive activities, use of collaborative software, and call-out questions to the room. We encourage videos and active discussion in these sessions and ask that you are in an enviroment where you will be able to speak freely. If you do not want to be on video or speak, video off and interation through chat is also an option. We encourage active participation in any form for the full benefit of the session.
• We will be using Figjam for some sessions that involve interactive activities. You will not need an account for this, but if you would like to try using the interactive whiteboard ahead of the session, please see their website.

• Our trainers all have lived experience and are working professionals within the TV and Broadcasting industry. They bring a wealth of professional and personal experience to their roles as trainers.
• Each trainer has been through our Doubling Disability Programme on an 8-week Train the Trainer course and are industry approved to deliver our training.

• CDN exists to enable the UK Broadcasting industry to increase diversity and inspire inclusion. We work with our members towards a broadcasting industry with equality at its core monitored through the world's first industry-wide data collection system, Diamond. Only 4.5% of those working off-screen in the UK television industry identify as disabled compared to 17% of working people in the UK which is why we run the Doubling Disability project, providing disability inclusion training to the industry.
