Some playful personal work, created alongside the commercial work. Made a few years ago, WALTZ is a personal experimental short film that drew inspiration from the captivating works of animators such as Robert Breer. The film sets out to create a unique visual experience by combining references from cold war spy films and classic Hollywood dance routines alongside childhood play and dance games.
Blending various graphical elements and treatments to form entirely new and alternative meanings. By overlaying these diverse elements, the film seeks to transcend traditional storytelling boundaries, inviting the audience to connect seemingly unrelated concepts and images in an open-ended and innovative approach to storytelling.
The film's visual language encompasses a wide array of imagery, including typography, 3D animation, and some historical Super 8 footage of the Berlin Wall. These elements were juxtaposed and artfully woven together to foster an unconventional narrative that challenges traditional storytelling techniques.
The original music and sonic landscape, crafted by myself, reinforces the film's experimental nature.
