Ant & Dec’s Mitre Studios has hired Nadia Afiairi to help steer its transformation into a fully-fledged production company.

As the indie’s first director of production, Afiairi will oversee production budgets, schedules and delivery of all Mitre productions across both digital and television output.

Afiairi is a former head of production at Great Scott Media and her new role reunites her with Ed Sleeman, who headed up that company before becoming Mitre managing director.

Over 18 years in TV, she has worked for the likes of Endemol Shine, Spun Gold, Talkback, Lime Pictures, Twofour and South Shore and has clocked up credits on everything from ITV’s Harry’s Heroes and Soccer Aid to Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating and The Jump and BBC’s All Together Now and The Ranganation.

She stood down from Great Scott Media after three years last year to go freelance and is also co-founder of diversity champions Black Leaders in TV.

Sleeman hailed Afiairi’s “incredible track record in delivering big-swing shows on time and on budget”.

He described her appointment as “the final piece in the Mitre Studios jigsaw, enabling us to confidently make any sized show for any network or streamer”.
