Boom has hired former RDF and S4C executives in senior roles as part of a reshuffle of its team.

Angela Oakhill [main picture, right] was with RDF for 14 years prior to its closure last year, latterly as director of production and joins Cardiff-based Boom in the same role.

At her former company, she oversaw a portfolio that included Only Connect, Tipping Point and Dickinson’s Real Deal.

Meanwhile, former S4C entertainment commissioner Elen Rhys [main picture, left] has been named head of Boom Kids, replacing Angharad Garlick, who is stepping down after 20 years in the role.

The division's output for the Welsh-language public service broadcaster includes football show Tekkers and pre-school animation Cwyian Bach.

Boom managing director Nia Thomas singled out Oakhill’s “expert vision and commercial acumen and Rhys’ “editorial instincts, creativity and tenacity”.

The hires come as Boom promotes Carl Morgan to head of digital, Katie Fazackerley Mason to head of production, Louise harry to HR business partner and Lowri Farr to production executive.

ITV Studios-owned Boom has also secured two Channel 5 factual series that will air later this year: The Motorway Pile-Up: Who’s to Blame? and Summer on the Isles of Scilly.
