This upcoming role is an opportunity for a keen and motivated individual to join Disney’s Hercules on a fixed-term basis as a Music Assistant. Supporting the Music Department, this staff member will play a vital role in the day to day set up of a large-scale musical production.
Job Description
Music Team Coordination:
Arrive promptly to rehearsals each day to manage updates, including printing changes and maintaining the Music Supervisor's physical score.
Record audio and video during rehearsals to assist in the Music Supervisor's arranging process.
Transcribe newly developed musical materials for review by the Music Supervisor.
Draft transitional music from existing compositions, ensuring alignment with the Music Supervisor's vision.
Learn and implement the Music Supervisor's notational preferences, such as chord symbol spacing, character dialogue, and dynamics, ensuring consistent updates to the score.
Administrative and Organisational Duties:
Collaborate with the Music Supervisor and Stage Management to ensure the Music Team is supplied with necessary office materials.
Format piano-vocal scores to facilitate optimal page-turns for the Music Director and pianists.
Maintain and organise Dropbox files, ensuring the availability of daily call schedules, the latest script drafts, and up-to-date Piano-Vocal PDFs and Finale files, while preserving an accessible archive of past materials.
Distribute daily updates and changes from rehearsals to the music team via email.
Organise and distribute the Music Supervisor's daily notes.
Maintain a detailed change log, tracking updates between score versions, and coordinate with orchestrators and copyists regarding material releases and orchestra part statuses.
Communication and Scheduling:
Liaise with Stage Management to ensure line changes are promptly updated in the score and determine if these changes impact the music.
Monitor the rehearsal schedule and coordinate with Stage Management to address the Music Team's requirements.

Fixed Term Contract - 14 April - 25 June 2025
48 hours per week
This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety rules & regulations in place at the production.
Normal working hours apply but out of hours' work will be expected as necessary and can also include evenings and weekends.
Job Responsibilities
Skills Required:
Excellent and efficient Finale skills (Knowledge of Dorico is highly desired)
Fast and accurate Piano-Vocal transcription skills
Ability to anticipate the needs of music team and take initiative accordingly
Above and beyond attention to detail
Excellent critical thinking skills and use of own initiative
Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Outlook, Google Calendar).
