I work as an International Formats Consultant for BBC Studios working on productions around the world such as Dancing With The Stars and Bake Off. My role is to ensure productions get up to date infomation on formats of shows and consultancy advice throughout the productions. Previous to this I worked as a freelance Edit Producer / Senior Edit Producer specialising in Music, Entertainment, Reality, Live Events and Ob Docs for Terrestrial Broadcast TV. I'm at my happiest when I am running big teams, or multiple edits usually to tight deadlines. I have a good eye for character and shaping story arcs, which has been especially useful for my reality and ob doc work. I'm used to storylines literally changing overnight, so I'm a good multi-tasker and can think on my feet. I have a good sense of humour which is important for the kind of shows I work on, and I'm able to write witty narrative and vo's. It's worth noting that music can be one of the most important components of the shows I work on, and an incredible amount of thought goes into the choices I use. Until Dec 12, I held a permanent role at MTV as Executive Producer for the In-House Production department. My role has meant I have worked in the UK market, aswell as MTV International, so I have a good understanding of what works across all territories. I was responsible for the development, production and project management of all the shows under my remit- everything from short-form (but high impact) productions such as MTV News, to Factual Entertainment, Documentaries & Music Specials. It wasn’t unusual for me to have up to 8 productions on-going at any one point, so I am very used to multi-tasking and prioritising. I know how to get the best out of every department by using diplomacy, being calm and having a clear vision. I have managed large teams (over 20 people at many stages of my career) as well as hiring the best freelance staff in the industry.
