Having spent years in various areas of the Radio Controlled hobby, I jump at any opportunity to bring those skills into film production. Working with RC platforms has fascinated me from the get go. Flying aircraft, and ground vehicles from fixed wings to offroad racing, to FPV quadcopters.

This particular shoot involved weaving a large scale RC camera buggy in and around the stunning Williams F1 car for their 2022 Livery Launch film.

The Camera platform Operated by Dan Lobo-Pires stabilised the Arri Mini with a short range anamorphic zoom.

This project originated from the relationship between Radical driver Leon Morrell and I. We wanted to create something high octane, exhilarating and epic to show off the capabilities of this amazing technology we call FPV drones.

There is huge potential for these drones in the hands of the right pilot, in not just fast action packed footage such as you see below, but also precise, tight-space exploratory flying which simply cannot be done with other forms of drone, or camera stabilisation platforms.

Director - Marco Barcella, approached me to DP this crazy idea of sending a vintage Le Mans car up into the Scottish highlands, mixed in with a bag piper in the most serene landscapes. The answer was “YES!”.

We took a team up to Scotland for several days in February, battling short weather windows, and surface water spray from the tracking vehicle.

Having worked with Casio on numerous occasions, I was approached to get on board with the launch film of G-Shock’s new Steel series of time pieces. The brief concluded a gritty, raw and mechanical feel in a home workshop, which really resonated with me.

It was fantastic merging several visual styles into this film over several days. A highlight would definitely be the opening sequence of the bike soaring through the early morning fog, headlight gleaming, suited in black.
