Yemi is a producer and writer/director. Yemi is currently participating on the BBC Associate Producer Programme, on which she is associate producing a feature scripted film for BBC Films and Quiddity Films. Yemi is also in collaboration with Sleepwalker, where she is in development on many projects including the feature film ‘Root’, which she is producing alongside Yaw Basoah at Dark Pictures. A short film version of ‘Root’ was shortlisted for ‘Future Takes’ by Film4 and the BFI. She also most recently produced a Roundhouse commissioned short film ‘Goodbye Train’ that won the Wiggin Film Award in 2023.
Yemi’s latest film as producer/director, ‘The Ink Life’, was commissioned by ITV’s ‘Fresh Cuts’ programme and premiered at BAFTA, with over 300,000 people watching it on TV. In 2022, Yemi was awarded The Roundhouse Film Fund for her directorial debut, ‘Keeping Grandma’. Prior to this, Yemi worked as a runner and production assistant for Knucklehead and Smuggler on short films, music videos, and commercials. She also worked at Misfits Entertainment as a Producer’s Assistant and Production Coordinator.
Yemi is an inaugural BAFTA Connect member and is based in London. She works across narrative and unscripted, and makes films that consist of informative important stories that deserve to be told.
