I have worked with Allen on very many films, mainly for BBC music and for the Imagine arts series on BBC One. Together we have won many awards in particular for The Fatwa - Salman's Story and Vivian Maier - Who Took Nanny's Pictures? He is a wonderful editor, very intuitive, very intelligent. He gets extremely involved with the story, is excellent with music, and also always eager to widen the story out and realise its full potential. Very imaginative with the use of archive and stills, and very persistent in making sure we have the best available.
Having worked with Allen Charlton for over 10 years I can recommend him as a brilliant editor. His talent and imagination at creating sequences is just terrific. His musical sense both for choosing and placing tracks is remarkable. He can also work on his own whilst the director is on location in a very intelligent way. He can easily be called an edit producer as well as an editor, and his instinct for getting to the heart of a film is tremendous. He is capable of transforming a film by his skill and experience. I recommend him very highly indeed.
