My name is Jaya-Lakshman, I am a self-shooting AP with experience in documentaries (specialist factual and observational) as well as current affairs, drama recon, music, travelogues and food shows. I have also 2nd Camera assisted on scripted drama work.

For the past year I have been working as a Location AP on Netflix’s access driven documentary Breakpoint following A-list sports talent internationally at tournaments and difficult environments while also setting up and filming master interview shoots. Prior to that I was a researcher on the first season of Breakpoint, was inbuilt into the England team for the Rugby Six Nations documentary by the same production company (Box to Box Films) and a camera assistant on the specialist factual documentary about the Natural History Museum. 

I am calm, capable of producing under time pressure, flexible with last minute changes to schedules and work well with contributors both on camera and behind. I enjoy the fast paced nature of filming documentaries as well as the responsibility that comes with working in a small team.

Camera Experience

I have experience working as a 2nd camera on location shoots and for MIV’s on both the FX9 and the FX6 as well as using the DJI S2 on location. Professionally I have assisted, helped set up shots and recorded GV's independently on multiple shoots and am confident taking responsibility on camera or assisting the camera team whenever the extra hand is needed. I have also camera assisted for multiple DOP’s operating the RED V-Raptor on location.

- I’ve assisted on VT’s, in studio, and on-location shoots.
- I have been responsible for keeping detailed story logs.

- I’ve managed contributor and location release forms.
- I’ve solely looked after talent, from presenters, sportsman to A-list celebrities.

- I’ve assisted specialist teams such as drone, costume, art.
- I’ve done stand-in work for multiple shows, I’ve dressed up in costumes as well.
- I’ve worked setting up and breaking down kit in the cameras department, as well as lighting and sound.
- I have been the key point of communication between production and crew on the ground.
- I have experience dealing with contributors.
- I have been responsible delivering rushes and data wrangling.
