Managing a ‘Covid Team’ of three persons onsite to ensure cohorts & protocols are adhered to and managing their time sheets & expenses.Feb 2013 – Dec 2021 Freelance Tour ManagerI have been working as a tour manager for various international touring artists since 2013. I regularly work all over the world including but not limited to UK/Europe, USA, Australia, Japan, Russia, China & South America. I have been awarded Total Production Magazine ‘Tour Manager of the Year’ – 2015 & 2021, Nominated in 2017. And also won Live Awards ‘Tour Manager of the Year’ – 2017My day to day job role includes:- Liaising with artists, agents, managers, venues and staff onsite to bring a show from the first planning stages to its conclusion.- Budget planning, tour account reconciliation and settlements including handling cash payments, purchase orders & invoicing.- Booking hotels, flights, taxis, trains and all forms of transport in countries all over the world. This involves regularly moving up to 50 persons into a new country each day of a world tour along with their personal requirements for families, luggage and equipment.- Organising carnet documents for musical equipment and ensuring they are filled out correctly when crossing borders.- Booking PA systems, lighting, security, stage crew, riggers, pyrotechnics, plant equipment, backline, DJ equipment. Negotiating deals from suppliers if necessary, to remain within the tour budget.
- Using my communication skills to balance the needs and wants of the artists with regard to the above and the constraints of the budget.- Manage all immigration requirements worldwide including US visa applications. Ensuring that all artists and crew are aware of the timescales and that they have the correct paperwork, photographs and meet the entry requirements for each country.- Ensuring the artists and crew adhere to all health and safety and local authority requirements. This usually relates to pyrotechnics, noise curfews, sound limits, venue overcrowding. Recently this has also including Covid planning and testing schedules.- Managing a team of crew and artists during the tour. Producing day sheets and tour itineraries (both online and in excel/word) and making sure that everyone has detailed and correct information in order to plan their working day. Managing last minute issues and changes and communicating these effectively under pressure.- Handling large amounts of cash, reconciling and making payments to suppliers and artists.- Crowd management, security and safety briefings all undertaken.- Co-ordinating fan experiences such as signings, sound check preview performances, meet and greets and interviews.Acts that I have worked with include: Wolf Alice, Placebo, Everything Everything, Gerard Way/My Chemical Romance, The Courteeners.I have also worked in production & event management for a variety of large scale events such as Glastonbury Festival, Eden Sessions & The V FestivalMay 2001 – Feb 2013 Production Manager, SJM ConcertsI was personally responsible for around 300 tours per year, with clients such as Biffy Clyro, Paramore and Adele. I have worked with and in hundreds of venues all over the UK.I have also production managed multi day cross platform broadcasts, events and tours for brands such as BBC Radio 1.My day to day job role included:- Liaising with artist tour managers, agents, managers, venues and SJM staff onsite to bring a show from the first planning stages to its conclusion.- Budget planning, ticket reconciliation and settlements.- Advancing and being the SJM representative onsite for all sizes of shows from pubs, clubs, arenas and outdoor greenfield sites- Booking PA systems, lighting, security, stage crew, riggers, pyrotechnics, plant equipment, hotels, flights, ground transport, backline, DJ equipment. Negotiating deals from suppliers if necessary to remain within the overall show budget.- Balancing the needs and wants of the artists with regard to the above and the constraints of the budget. Managing expectations in a positive way.- Manage all immigration issues for non EU performers. I successfully applied for SJM to become an A Rated Sponsor with the UK Border Agency and ensure full compliance with their regulations, including the UKBA unannounced visits and checks.- Placing insurance cover for possible cancellation of shows, including budgets of several million pounds.- Ensuring the artists and venues adhere to all health and safety and local authority requirements. This usually relates to pyrotechnics, noise curfews, sound limits, venue overcrowding.- Managing a team of show representatives, around 30 freelance staff who work to my advance planning. Allocating their work for each month and helping them with any issues they may be experiencing no matter what time of day or night.- Day to day running of large scale events, including supervising equipment load in and stage set up. Management of venues, stage crew, artists, parking logistics. Full DVD shoots, live TV and radio broadcasts, audio recording and web streaming teams all managed in advance and on the day to budget.- Handling large amounts of cash, reconciling and making payments to suppliers and artists.- Crowd management, security and safety briefings all undertaken.- Co-ordinating fan experiences such as signings, sound check preview performances, meet and greets and interviews.
