I'm a self-shooting director and Cameraman based in North Yorkshire. I have over 25 years experience in the industry, both in London and 'up north'. I've worked in documentaries, factuals, current affairs, lifestyle, entertainment, sport, commercials and corporates. I've worked with a huge range of presenters and contributors of all types and in many different and at times challenging environments and I love what I do.In the past couple of years I've been gradually transferring my skills into a full-time self-shooting P/D role. Although I've always done some work as a 'self-shooter' - indeed my first series was 'Psychic Private Eyes' for Living several years ago - camerawork has kept me busy so it's only recently that I've started building a proper profile in this capacity. Last year my main project was working part-time (10 days a month from May-November) on the second series of 'Bangers & Cash', Produced by Air TV for Yesterday Channel. 'Bangers' is a light-hearted, contributor-lead observational documentary series about a family-run Classic Car Auction business. It is currently airing on thursday evenings and comfortably out-performing all the other shows on UKTV. Commissioning Editor Natalie Rose commented late last year, having watched an early cut; 'this is such a wonderful episode - just the first few minutes put a smile on my face'.Last year I also self-shot some key sections for 'The Planes That Build Britain' (October Films for Ch.5) - following Harrier Test Pilot Justin Paines revisiting the unique VAAC Harrier he had flown and developed technology for the next generation of strike-force aircraft. I also did some work for 'Tonight' about the Tory Leadership race and previously have contributed to a number of documentary and factual projects, including 'What Happened Next..?' (Ch.5), 'Dream Homes' (ITV), 'Auctions' (Sky), 'Animal 24/7' (BBC1). I have also directed and shot many corporate and Charity videos for companies like Specsavers, Parkinsons UK and FARM-Africa. I have an eye for a story, am a thoughtful and resolute interviewer who builds genuine trust with contributors, I understand how to tell a story and how to cover sequences that cut-together beautifully in the edit. Whilst this role has been a supplementary one for much of my career, I am now looking for more opportunities in this capacity, especially in camera-lead story-telling. I have particular experience of animal-rescue and hospital-based series and have a great passion for and knowledge of the countryside and natural history. But ultimately I'm drawn to anything with a strong storyline, good characters and a rich visual framework.
