His first documentary short won a Royal Television Society Award in 2012. He went on to win a scholarship to study Documentary Directing at the National Film and Television School, where his graduation film Coalville Gold was nominated for Grierson & BIFA awards. He won the Channel 4 First Cut Pitch at Sheffield Doc/Fest in 2016 and has developed and directed documentaries for production companies and broadcasters including AMOS Pictures, Passion Pictures, VICE, STV, BBC, and Channel 4, and has directed commercial work for brands including Mars, Zurich, Hello Fresh, Mercedes & SoftBank.
His work in advertising has won over 30 international awards, including 3x Kinsale Sharks, 2x D&AD Pencils, the Shots Award for Branded Entertainment Series of the Year, the New York Festivals Positive World Contribution to LGBT, and nominated for a Webby for Good for Public Service and Activism.In 2020, Ross co-founded Earthling Films, with the mission of giving voice to underrepresented stories. Ross is part of the Film London Breaking the Glass Ceiling initiative for underrepresented leaders within the film industry, and a PACT Future 30 Producer.
