Sensitively developed professional relationships with 5 finalised contribs. As survivors of horrific crimes (sex/drug trafficking, FGM & domestic abuse), I assured they felt validated throughout the process, which continued on set. Deftly overcame compliance issues in production/post. I persuaded a previously rejected contributor to be apart of the show, decisively responding to welfare concerns & archive-logging queries. Archive Researcher / Legends Of Comedy with Lenny Henry (TBA) / Red Sauce/ Channel 4 / Nov 2022 to Apr 2023 |
Production Title: Legends Of Comedy with Lenny Henry (TBA) Company: Red Sauce/ Channel 4 Line Manager: Dom Wells-Martin- Series Producer Description : I developed a close relationship with the small editorial team which included me, the Assistant Producer and the Series Producer. They valued by editorial input, allowing me to weigh in on creative decisions from set design to talent props. I sourced all archive material for both Lenny Henry and the guests, which were central to the format of the show. Collecting from multiple sources, I converted all into mp4s and uploading them onto Sony Ci Media Cloud. I worked directly with the Archive Producer to sort all archive material on Sony Ci Media Cloud. I numbered and labelled each archive correctly, for the SP to navigate himself through. I developed detailed guest biographies, compiling key information from a range of podcasts, broadcast interviews and newspaper articles. These biographies were sent directly to Lenny’s agent, intricate but clear, they enabled the host to gain an in-depth insight into the show’s upcoming guests. I created ‘wormhole’ documents for each guest. I used my creativity and passion for comedy to assemble humorous sequences to structure every episode-cleverly generated from my knowledge and sourced material. For 2 weeks shooting on location in Maidenhead, I put 100% into the filming of every episode, from assisting with clean-up after a long day’s shot, to setting the covid station up in the early hours of the morning. I converted all the archive material I’d collected pre-production onto a portable tablet. I sequenced all material into their relevant wormholes and labelled them clearly. I worked directly with very high-level comedy talent throughout, most notably the legendary Sir Lenny Henry, who I taught how to operate the tablet. I remained integral to the production, managing to smooth over any issues quickly and efficiently. I was asked back to the imitate filming with Paul Whitehouse at Royal Haymarket Theatre as the SP felt I was needed for the production. I put 100% into the filming of every episode, from assisting with clean-up after a long day’s shot, to setting the covid station up in the early hours of the morning. In post-production, I transcribed and time-coded all the rushes from all four episodes using Trint. I worked directly with the edit producers for all four guests, remaining on hand to research any archives and ingest them remotely into the edit. I gained in-depth knowledge of copyright legislation, particularly surrounding fair-dealing exemptions. I had direct responsibility across archive clearances alongside the Archive Producer, creating fair dealing documents for the latest rough cut of each episode, which were sent to Channel 4's lawyers. I thoroughly enjoyed working on Legends Of Comedy with Lenny Henry, it has sparked a determination to continue working in unscripted comedy. |
