My name is Robin Hannagan-Jones and I have recently graduated from the University of South Wales with a first-class honors degree in Media Production. During my time studying, I was able to generate and develop many ideas in a wide variety of mediums and styles. These ranged from scripted drama to documentaries, to podcasts and even cross-media adaptations to name a few. The Media Production course was designed to give us a broad and high-quality set of skills with which to develop ideas and create professional standard content and prepare us for work in the TV and Film industry.Before studying at USW I was an actor having graduated from drama school and working as such for a few years before deciding to retrain and give myself technical skills and knowledge of production to enable me to develop and create my own ideas. It was during this time that I really fell into coming up with and developing ideas for potential stories, no matter the medium. I learned that it didn’t need to be a scripted TV drama in order to tell a compelling and engaging story and I would relish the opportunity to develop more ideas and work on getting these ideas seen by people.Alongside working as an actor I worked as an events and hospitality manager for a number of years, this experience has given me a vital outlook on work ethic and transferable skills that I can take into any role, These skills include but are not limited to: Timekeeping Prioritising Budget planning Project management Problem-solving Logistics and planning People management Leadership and trainingHaving this prior experience gives me an advantage over other candidates as I have been lucky enough to acquire insight and knowledge that few new graduates possess, I am driven to achieve extremely high quality in my work, not afraid to learn from challenges that come my way and know what a team can achieve when they apply creativity and genuine enthusiasm to what they do.
