Reviewing the editorial ambitions while managing expectations along with creating complex budgets & schedules budgets also formulates a key part of my role while undertaking contractual negotiations with talent, facilities and other service providers etc.. Typically, I am the first point of contact on the production team managing relationships with a number of broadcasters/clients and reporting directly to the DOP/Head of Commissioning. My experience to date has also allowed me much communication with the legal/business affairs team’s in relation to managing multi channel budgets, integrated campaign budgets, IP rights ownership, clearances, contractual terms and so on. Along with this I am familiar with communicating to the finance team dealing directly with cash flows, cost reports and budget reconciliations. Previously, i was employed by the BBC overseeing their Topical studio show 'Watchdog'. Key responsibilities include managing a large budget alongside a large production team, being across the studio RX, H&S, RA's, multiple VT's, legal and compliance etc. Prior to this I worked for Vice and also Lonelyleap Films where I oversee a busy and diverse raft of content including a number of Sky and BBC commercial & factual formats - ‘The Genius Behind’ ‘World Changing Ideas’ ‘America Through Film’ etc. I was also employed by BSkyB, Discovery, Endemol, Original Productions etc where I managed a number of productions across their factual entertainment, reality and entertainment slate while working closely with the branded content teams across ad funded programmes. During this time, I was also fortunate to establish good working relationships with a number of the UK’s leading production companies as well as establish strong links with a number of industry bodies – BAFTA/Albert programme, PACT, CDN etc. On a day-to-day basis my key responsibilities include: being the gatekeeper across all commissioned productions ensuring the seamless transition of deliverables across all platforms on time and on budget. This includes attending all editorial start up meetings ensuring the Ed Spec conforms to expectation, undertaking the creation of budgets and reviewing budgets, overseeing clearance agreements (filming permissions/music/archive) across all media under the terms of the broadcasters, advising on crew and equipment service contracts, overseeing the sign off process for cast members and set designs etc. Along with this I manage a production team, oversee ever-changing schedules plus, I prepare cost and status reports for regular meetings with the DOP/commissioning team. So the need to work autonomously, taking ownership for my areas of responsibility, while finding solutions for complexities is routine and would require me to communicate my concerns to all stakeholders with regard to any potential delivery issues. I often attend various strategy meetings thereby gaining a full understanding of any key directives being deployed. Alongside this I would work collaboratively with all key stakeholders ensuring the deliverables are on brand and on message: PR, marketing, compliance, digital, commercial etc maximising the exploitation of assets across distribution. Having gained many years experience in broadcast production working with some of the UK’s most recognised Indies I pride myself with my ability to positively absorb their culture, values and philosophy reinforcing this spirit across my team. I am a strong communicator and I manage teams effectively while encouraging open lines of communication thereby maintaining great levels of motivation and enthusiasm for the production. Currently, I’m across the appraisal of 12 junior members of my team where I undertake their performance reviews and help set development objectives for the next 6 months ensuring they feel properly supported and invested in. I am also mentoring young people from socially challenging backgrounds seeking an opportunity to establish a career within broadcasting. During my time at Sky I was elected as the departments forum representative. Here, I collated all issues of concern from a division comprising of over 600 employees and presented these to the senior management committee for discussion and resolution. Some of these issues included matters of diversity across the various production departments. As an experienced HOP who has worked at a senior level with a number of well established networks, I am familiar with being the primary point of contact so negotiating budgets without compromising the editorial ambition with a professional business outlook comes naturally. Technically, I am well versed with a true understanding of the production life cycle (broadcast/digital) and a keen eye across content, budget lines, schedules and distribution. Prior to establishing my TV career I was a dedicated athlete, representing England over 800m, 1500m and cross country. I also received an athletic scholarship to the USA.
