We covered every milestone in their journey, from meeting the surrogate for the first time to the birth. The baby was born during lockdown in Belfast so we had to get creative with how to cover it, using UGC and a local PD. The film interwove the current unfolding narrative with Jake and Hannah's back stories. We did the entire edit on Zoom during lockdown. |

I was focussed on filming at the CAMHS (young people) and perinatal (pre/post-natal) units. This required meeting people and building relationships with at their most difficult time and filming them in incredibly tricky and sensitive situations as they got treated by the services. I was responsible for telling the stories of people with anorexia, self harm tendencies, suicidal thoughts and post-natal psychosis. We filmed with both the staff working at the services and the patients and families. I took the second film through the edit about the rise of mental health issues in teenage girls.
This was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Documentary Series. |

I shaped and developed this idea to commission, produced, shot and co-directed the film which was presented by Seyi Rhodes. We filmed within the agricultural, construction, care and health sectors all over the UK. I also travelled to Ukraine with Seyi to shoot a scene and filmed an interview with the immigration minister in the Home Office. |

In what is a difficult community to access, we built relationships and trust with the families. I spent the summer getting to know the team mates and was able to create a strong sense of style and tone to the film. |
