Gabriella Whittley is a writer, director and theatre-maker currently studying Theology and Religion at Durham University.

her work combines visually rich storytelling with a darker exploration of psychological complexity, exploitation and oppression, particulary the experiences of women. Passionate about the visual language of theatre, she places particular emphasis on costume, staging and atmosphere to create striking theatrical worlds which challenge audiences and confront unconfrotable realities. She creates work for both stage and screen.

Her original play 'Infestation' was selected for the Durham Drama Festival and performed at the Durham Fringe Festival in July 2026.

Since writing 'Infestation', Gabriella has written three further plays, including a full-length work that she has also adapted into a screenplay.

Her experience includes assistant directing Little Women (Snow Globe Theatre Company), designing set and costumes for Murder on the Nile (Snow Globe Theatre Company), co-directing the short film 'In Plain Sight' (Durham Film-Making).

Gabriella aims to create visually distinctove, emotionally challenging work that explores the darker sides of human experince, giving voice to stories of exploitation and oppression that are too often left unexamined.

Alongside her creative work, Gabriella is a ski instructor and a classically trained musician who plays harp, piano and drums.  Read Less
