As a shooting AP I followed a fugitive pair on their journey, from wild-camping in Scotland, to long treks through the peak district, and covert public transport use.
My role included:
- filming actuality which was often fast-paced and unpredictable, mostly on a canon xf205. Sometimes covering scenes alone, sometimes cross-shooting with the PD.
- building a strong rapport with the contributors to generate open and honest sync about how they were feeling throughout the process, and to develop their story arc of the personal challenges they were overcoming.
- filming accurate CCTV-style footage on go pros whenever they passed through areas with cameras
- managing the follow team of myself, a junior researcher and a runner to ensure smooth working and efficiency
- signing up members of the public who the fugitives asked for help, often under time pressure
- constant communication with production about our location, equipment, health & safety, risk assessments, compliance, and data wrangling

- Navigating sensitive phonecalls with potential contributors for both research and casting. I also spoke to many lawyers and defence barristers to understand the current legal system, how it's becoming a two-tier system, and why it’s not really working for anyone. |

I also developed, directed, and self-shot two ‘Podbuster’ scenes for broadcast. A podbuster is a short behind-the-scenes sequence which breaks up each episode before the final section.
